In the last several years the game of paintball has developed significantly. Organized games and sequences become larger and more complicated as more and more people begin to play and get into in this energetic activity. It is probably better to play with other novices if you are one yourself because experience carries a lot of weight in the game. In more intense paintballing scenarios, professional competitors will often form teams. Players can can participate in one of the more extreme competitions once they have mastered a few of the basic tactics and techniques of paintball. Each competitor and group must develop the most ideal strategy for themselves through experience and trial and error.250-300 feet is the range the typical paint gun is able fire. Of course there are modified guns that have a lot farther distance and accuracy, but these can get really expensive. Also, because a paintball is not a solid projectile, it is more difficult for a competitor to make his shots consistent. To have the greatest chance at hitting an opposing participant you need to move in as close as possible without endangering yourself. It is a wise strategy for you to hold the opposition behind objects out in the playing field so they will have to take cover. This will make them unable to locate you as you move in on them. As you advance to their location, you might want to move to either side to change your viewpoint. This will let you flank your opponent from the side. It is usually better to avoid face to face encounters with competing competitors and try to hit them from covered areas so as not to expose yourself.Taking cover and implementing the natural surroundings as a defense is an important part of the sport of paintballing. When competing in surroundings like the forest, terrain is for cover and camouflage. It is not uncommon for beginner players to make the mistake of staying in one spot for too long and endangering their location. They may shoot a couple of the opposing team but allow for the others to sneak around and flank them. It is a good idea to remain moving as much as possible and to stay hidden for as long as possible. This will give a player the advantage of stealth. Many competitors today are buying gilly suits to give themselves an advantage on the playing field and in organized games. When a player in a gilly suit is being still to blend in with their surroundings the suit's unique properties make it really difficult for opposing competitors to see them. Participants who prefer better mobility and range of vision by not having a gilly suit may choose a strategy of speed and attack to make up for their disadvantage of being easily seen. When trying to take cover in paintball, position is extremely important to consider for a defensive strategy. In situations where they have to be able to move fast, competitors will discover that remaining standing gives them more mobility. A person limits what they can see around them when they kneel or lay down behind a big object like a rock or tree. Opposing competitors might be able to gain the edge if you allow them to come upon you. Bushes and high brush offer some cover and some visibility, making them good spots for both surprise melees and defensive locations. If a player finds that he must crawl between two objects to remain under cover the dexterity and stealth goes down and they will discover that it is difficult to get away rapidly in this position.
